Who We Are

Infrastructure Nerds is an IT consulting company based out of Oakland, California, USA.

We were founded by Barry King in 2023, after working in IT for 25 years as a Linux Administrator, Network Administrator, and Technical Manager. We endeavor to bring the benefits of our experience with enterprise-level scales and DevOps methodologies to small and medium sized businesses.

We serve businesses in the East Bay, San Francisco, and beyond!

What We Do

Infrastructure Nerds provides managed IT solutions and consulting to businesses, focusing on server and network administration.

We develop pocketprotector, an Infrastructure as Code solution based on the Puppet programming language. This DevOps approach provides a transparency and compliance layer for our Linux-based solutions.

Our focus is primarily on Linux and networking, though we also have familiarity with Windows and Apple-based solutions. We've used most commercial network vendors and both open source and commercial firewall vendors. On the storage side, we build ZFS and gluster systems, and also work with commercial storage appliances.
